Our Story

Every story has a beginning, and ours begins with something simple: the wish to help. From the very start, care and support have been at the heart of everything we do. That passion shaped not only our company but also me, as the person who grew up inside this story. I grew up in a home where helping others was never a business strategy, it was a way of living. My parents worked hard every day, caring for people in their own way. Our house was a place where people came not only for treatments or products, but also for trust, a kind word, and the reassurance that someone was there for them. As a child I did not fully understand what they were building. What I saw was how naturally they cared for others and how much joy it gave them. That spirit became part of me long before I knew I would continue their journey.

The lesson of care became even clearer when my grandmother, who had always been there for me, suddenly needed my help. She was the one who had cheered me on, listened to me and supported me as I grew up. Seeing her lose some of her independence was not easy. Yet in that moment I discovered something important: helping someone you love is not about duty, it is about giving back, about standing next to them when life changes. That experience shaped me in ways I carry with me every single day. It taught me that independence is not something we can take for granted. It is precious. And when it becomes harder to hold on to, the right kind of support can change everything, for the person who needs it and for the people around them.

This is what inspired me to build on what my parents had started. With the same family spirit, but with new energy and vision, VITILITY was born. Not just as a company, but as a brand with a mission: to design solutions that bring independence, confidence and joy into everyday life. That mission is not mine alone. It is something we share as a team. We are not a group of hard sellers or people who live by numbers. We are people who find joy in helping others, just as my parents once did, just as I once did for my grandmother. That is what makes us different.

My name is Dave, and this is our story.

1976

Our Beginning

Our story begins at home, where care was never just an idea but a way of living. Long before there was a brand called VITILITY, our parents worked from their living room as a beautician and a pedicurist. Day after day, they welcomed people into their home, offering more than treatments. They gave attention, comfort and the feeling that someone truly cared.

It was here that the spirit of our company was born. The focus was never on numbers or growth, but on people. Each small act of care showed how powerful it is to help someone feel more confident and comfortable in daily life. This mindset became the DNA of everything that would follow.

What started in that family home also shaped the way our team is built today. We are not a company of hard sellers or people who only see figures. We are a team of people who, just like our parents once did, find joy in helping others. That is what connects us, and what allows us to create something we are all proud of.

The First Store

The next step after working from home was opening a small store. It was simple in size, but built with a strong purpose: making care more accessible.

In those days, not all medical supplies were easy to find or fully reimbursed. Many people struggled to get the products they needed. For us, that was never acceptable. If something was out of reach, we looked for solutions. Sometimes that meant giving up part of our own margin so that people would not have to go without. Helping always came first.

That choice made the store more than just a place to buy products. It became a place of trust, where people knew they would be listened to and supported. People came not only for what was on the shelves, but because they knew we would stand beside them.

Looking back, the first store showed what would always define us: a business built on care, fairness and the belief that everyone deserves the right support to live with dignity and independence.

Expanding into Daily Living

From the store we quickly learned an important truth. People’s needs do not stop with medical care. Independence is about everyday life, like cooking, showering, moving around safely and enjoying hobbies. Small things that many take for granted can become real barriers when mobility or health changes.

That insight shaped the next chapter. We expanded our collection beyond medical supplies into smart and practical tools that support daily routines. From the kitchen to the bathroom, from mobility aids to products for leisure, every item was chosen with one question in mind. How can this make life easier?

It was never about selling more. It was about finding better ways to help. Each new product was a step toward a bigger vision. Independence should be part of every moment of life, not only something offered in hospitals or clinics.

This was the time when our mission became clear. Helping people was no longer only about treatment. It was about giving back freedom and confidence in the everyday. Step by step, the foundation of VITILITY as a brand took shape.

My Grandmother’s Lesson

There are moments in life that shape who you are. For me, one of those moments was when my grandmother, who had always been there for me, suddenly needed my help. She was the one who supported me growing up, who gave me warmth, attention and encouragement. Seeing her lose some of her independence was not easy.

Helping her gave me a new perspective. I discovered that real care is not about duty but about giving back. It is about standing beside someone you love when life changes. Even the smallest support can mean the world when it restores dignity and confidence.

That experience became a turning point for me personally, but also for the way I saw our work. It showed me that helping people is not limited to products or services. It is about connection, about being present and making sure no one feels left behind.

The lesson from my grandmother still lives in everything we do today. It reminds us that behind every product is a person, and behind every person is a story. And that is why VITILITY has always been, and always will be, about more than business. It is about people.

A New Generation – The Birth of VITILITY

As the next generation I wanted to build on the foundation my parents had created. Their story was about care and helping people. My story became about taking that same spirit and turning it into a brand with a clear mission and vision. That was the moment VITILITY was born.

The time I spent helping my grandmother also opened my eyes to something else. Many of the products she needed were expensive and often hard to find. We searched all over the world to bring the right items in, but accessibility and affordability were always a challenge. That made me realize that if we truly wanted to make life easier for people, it was not enough to simply buy and sell. We had to create solutions ourselves.

So the birth of VITILITY was not only the start of a name, it was also the beginning of developing and producing our own products. Products built with the same DNA of care, but designed with more than function in mind. Products that combine independence.

Looking back, this was more than the launch of a brand. It was the beginning of a new standard. A movement that showed the world that assistive products can be practical, affordable and beautiful, and that support should never be out of reach.

The Future

As VITILITY began to take shape, we understood that building our own product line was the next step. People needed solutions that were easy to understand, affordable and widely available. This became the foundation of the VITILITY Original Line.

The focus was simple but powerful. Products that made everyday life easier without making people feel limited. Tools for the kitchen, the bathroom, mobility and leisure, all designed to be practical and reliable.

But it was not only the products that made the difference. VITILITY was one of the first brands to create attractive packaging with clear explanations. We wanted to make the buying process easier, not only for the people who would use our products, but also for the store owners who presented them. Packaging became part of the experience, helping people to choose with confidence and understand how a product could help them.

The Original Line grew quickly and found its way into homes, stores and care environments across many countries. It became the part of VITILITY that people recognised first, a trusted collection that carried the DNA of our brand: care, independence and dignity.

Looking back, the Original Line was more than a range of products. It was proof that our vision could reach further than one store or one family business, and that independence could become accessible everywhere.

International Expansion and Building Our Team

As VITILITY grew, we knew that our mission should not stop at one country. The challenges people face in daily life are universal, and the solutions we create can make a difference anywhere. Step by step, our products started to cross borders. Stores, distributors and partners in other countries joined us, each with the same drive to help people live more independently.

This international expansion was not built on numbers or transactions. It was built on people. We have always believed that a strong company is created with friends and family, and over time our circle kept growing. New colleagues joined us, sometimes starting as interns, later becoming part of the heart of the company. Each one added their own knowledge and passion, but more importantly, they shared the same spirit.

For us, building a team has never been about titles or hierarchy. It has been about creating a place where people find joy in helping others. That family feeling, which began at home with my parents, is now the foundation of an international network. We are proud that wherever VITILITY grows, it grows with people who care, people who support each other, and people who want to make life better for others.

Responsibility in Our Work – FSC and BSCI

Responsibility has always been part of our DNA. From the earliest years of our company we believed that helping people goes hand in hand with working in a fair and sustainable way. Long before sustainability became a trend we were already making careful choices about how and where our products were made.

Over time this way of working became more structured. We started following international standards such as FSC and BSCI. FSC, the Forest Stewardship Council, ensures that paper and packaging materials come from responsibly managed forests that protect both nature and local communities. BSCI, the Business Social Compliance Initiative, sets standards for fair working conditions across the supply chain, covering issues such as safety, fair wages and respect for workers.

For us these were never just rules to follow. They were a confirmation of how we had always worked. We had already been sourcing and producing with these values in mind, but now we opened our processes to external audits. Being officially certified meant showing the world that our words are backed by action.

This step is important because it connects our mission with the way we operate behind the scenes. Just as our products are designed to give people dignity and independence, the way they are created reflects dignity, fairness and respect for the world around us.

The ID Line – A New Standard

With the growth of VITILITY came the ambition to take the next step. We had already proven that assistive products could be practical, accessible and trusted. But we wanted to go further. We wanted to show that these products could also be beautiful, stylish and something to be proud of. That vision gave birth to the VITILITY ID Line.

The ID Line was created with one clear mission. To break the stigma around assistive products and to design them in a way that makes people feel strong, confident and independent. Every detail matters. From the choice of materials to the comfort of use, from the way a cane feels in the hand to the way a rollator looks in a shop window. Functionality and design became one.

It was not only about products but also about how they were presented. With premium packaging, luxury displays and a unique tailormade process, the ID Line set a new standard for the entire market. It showed that assistive solutions do not belong in the shadows, but deserve a place in the spotlight.

The launch of the ID Line marked a new chapter for VITILITY. A chapter where design and dignity come together, and where independence is celebrated instead of hidden.

2024

Red Dot Award

The launch of the ID Line did not go unnoticed. Our very first ID product, the grab bar, was designed to combine strength, safety and modern design in a way no one had seen before. In 2024, it was honoured with a Red Dot Award, one of the most respected design prizes in the world.

For us, this was much more than a trophy. It was proof that our mission had reached a new level. For years, assistive products were seen as purely functional, with little attention to style. Winning a Red Dot showed that the world was beginning to see them differently. It confirmed that independence and beauty can exist side by side, and that dignity can be designed into the smallest details.

This recognition was a milestone for our team. It validated the countless hours spent rethinking shapes, materials and packaging, and it gave strength to our belief that people deserve products they can feel proud to use.

But more than recognition, the award was a turning point. It sent a message to the entire industry: assistive products do not belong in the background. They deserve to be designed, celebrated and honoured just like fashion, furniture or technology.

The Red Dot Award 2024 marked the moment when VITILITY stepped onto the global stage as not only a brand that helps people, but also as a brand that inspires.

2025

Red Dot: Best of the Best

In 2025, VITILITY reached a milestone that had never been achieved before in our industry. Our ID Walking Cane was awarded the Red Dot: Best of the Best, the highest honour in international design, placing our product alongside world-leading innovations in furniture, fashion and technology.

What makes this recognition so unique is its rarity. Every year, thousands of products from all over the world are submitted to the Red Dot competition. Only a fraction receive a Red Dot Award. From that group, just a handful are selected as Best of the Best. Statistically, less than 0.000001 % of all global product launches reach this level. It is a recognition normally reserved for brands such as Apple, Dyson or Ferrari. Companies known for pushing the boundaries of design and innovation.

For us, this award was more than a trophy. It proved that assistive products can stand on the very same stage as the world’s most iconic designs. Our cane was not judged as a medical aid, but as a piece of design excellence.

Behind this award were countless details: the shock-absorbing and water-draining tip, the strong aluminium shaft treated for durability, the elegant handle wrapped in soft silicone, and the premium packaging designed to make every purchase feel special.

Winning the Red Dot: Best of the Best in 2025 was not only recognition of design. It was a turning point for VITILITY and for the entire industry. It showed that stigma can be broken, and that assistive products can be celebrated as true icons of design.

Future

Our story is far from finished. What began in a family living room has grown into an international brand, but the heart of our mission has never changed. We will always be here to help, to design solutions that make life easier, safer and more joyful.

Looking forward, our focus is not only on creating new products, but also on finding new ways to support people. Innovation is about more than design. It is about asking ourselves how we can have a greater impact. That is why this website is more than a showcase of products. It is a place to inform, inspire and connect. Just as our tools make daily life easier, our knowledge can help people feel stronger and more confident.

The future of VITILITY is about growth, but always with the same foundation that shaped us: care, fairness and the wish to make a difference. Whether it is through a small product that brings comfort or through knowledge that inspires independence, our goal remains the same.

Because independence should never be out of reach. And dignity should never be optional.
